Callie's Heart (Lasso Springs #1) by Kathleen Ball

Heat Rating

I am not sure yet how I want to rate this book, now don't get me wrong, it is a very good book and this is the second time I have read it. I just am not sure if I will ever read it again which is what my key thought in ranking any book is.

Callie returns from college walks into home a finds her husband (in name only) kissing another woman and things just cascade downhill from there. Garrett O'Neil loves his very young wife and only wants to do right by her but keeps screwing it up and has no clue how to fix it because when it comes to women he doesn't have the brains God gave a monkey. There are few minor characters who deserve a quick mention also there is Stamos the FBI Agent who really likes Callie and then there Sylvie the gold digging bimbo who are both basically monkey wrenches getting in the way of the couples connubial bliss.

I felt this book was a rather slow and took its time but then the emotional roller coaster was a definite whopper of a ride, with all the ups downs and loopy-loops, If it were a real roller coaster I could say my stuck was still stuck somewhere on the ride. I needed to stop reading a couple of times and read something else because the emotional intensity was just too much at times. Yes it had some boring parts but those were few and far between. The characters were well thought out and written and you could really connect especially with Callie. I did enjoy reading this and think it has potential to be a classic and I reckon that says something about the book in itself.

Artistic Vision (Gray Court #3) by Dana Marie Bell

Heat Rating

"The child of Dunne will one day perform an act that will change our world"

I would say that it is pretty obvious that the child in question is Shane Dunne and after reading this one I have to say I have new question: What does the Black Queen want with not just Shane but all the Dunne's? That was what I was left with at the end of this book but I am jumping ahead and I apologize but I just finished it so the end is very fresh in my mind.

Reading how Shane was trying to "woo" his mate was as very creative as his art work. Akane really just couldn't walk away from the puzzle that was her "Jethro" or her puzzle box. I never knew dragons were addicted to puzzles.

I have to say I was really surprised by one twist in the story that I didn't see coming and it wasn't the fact the that the Hob had a child as he probably has several but as I don't want to give that much of the book away, I will say I never expected one of the Hob's children to be a bad guy. And then of course Cecilia and Henri, I sure hope they aren't first cousin 'cause that has way to much icky eww to go a long way.

As I was reading I came across an inconsistency which is an anomaly in this book that I don't think I have seen in any of Dana Marie Bells books. Dana's attention to detail is phenomenal when it comes to the worlds she creates so I was actually surprised. So now to tease one of my favorite authors by asking (and yes I have to ask because I can't resist); when did Leo become the big brother? I thought Shane was the older brother and Leo the older brother? ;) Seriously though it does not take away from the story line in anyway, the characters are still compelling, sex scenes are smokin hot (no pun intended) between the Dragon, Akane and the Sidhe Lord/Leprechaun, Shane and the story line will leave eyes glued to the book much to your significant others consternation.

Wicked Cravings (The Phoenix Pack #2) by Suzanne Wright

Heat Rating

Jaime had to cage her wolf because the trauma her wolf sustained in order to protect them has made her a danger to other. She has also buried her alpha abilities, making everyone believe she is submissive. So when her crush on Dante proves futile she figures she and everyone around her are better off if she cuts her loses and moves on from it. Only Dante decides he doesn't like that Jaime has given up on him and his ego and wolf demands he gets her attention back on him even if it does break his rules about relationships and pack members.

This is my second reading of this book and my second review of this book. I am really glad I get to rewrite this review cause man the first one kind of sucked, because all I did really was mention what someone else had mentioned in a review they wrote then argued against it. I do still stand by my assessment in that regard but I never really mentioned anything that I personally liked about this book.

Jaime is so awesome and I truly admire how hard she fought to stay in control of her wolf, I thought it her will to protect those around her was well portrayed. I also noticed that with Dante and Jaime there was more of an emotional roller coaster ride and fewer laughing moments than there was in Trey and Taryn's story. The bedroom scenes that Dante and Jaime shared were had to be rocking Bedrock, because, wow, can Suzanne Wright write a bedroom scene holy moly.

I really started to like Dante a whole better after he pulled his head out of his back side and really started thinking about how his actions affected Jaime, but I got to tell you I was a bit surprised that it took him 15 minutes to realize that the woman he was in a relationship with was gone, when his ex that he supposedly felt nothing for was hanging all over him, I mean really, the guy would have been I am surprised Jaime didn't feed him his nuts before she walked away. Would have served him right if she had left and stayed with one of her friend for a few days just to let him stew in his own shit for a few days.

Favorite Quotes
Although I really like Dominic's corny pickup lines I have to say Jaime had a couple of really awesome funny quotes that MUST be shared.

“unless you get off on watching, you might want to scamper. As you can probably tell, we’re both hot and horny, and Dante’s about to Google my Yahoo and Twitter my cli—”--Jaime

I have always been a fan of Scooby Doo cartons so when I read this line I had add it to the favorite quotes.
“How about some role play? You can be Fred, I’ll be Daphne, and we’ll pretend Marcus is the Lake Monster coming to get us. What, too soon?”--Jaime

Original Review
I really did like this book. In one review that I read it said that Jaime was very much like Taryn from the first book and I can see the similarities but they aren't the same. The similarities come from the fact that they are both alpha females where as a submissive wolf would have certain traits so I think that Suzanne stayed true to her general characterization of the alpha female as well giving them their own personalities to go with those common traits. I did feel that the book was a little slow in spots but then what be the fun in reading Wicked Cravings if it didn't have a few relax and get comfortable moments between the action :)
