Payne (The Soldiers of Wrath: Grit Chapter #3) by Jenika Snow & Sam Crescent

Heat Rating

She is pregnant and she loves the baby daddy but he doesn’t feel that way about her, now her only option is to leave…

I am not sure that I like Payne after his physical heavy handed treatment of Vicky’s best friend, Clara. I mean who chokes a woman except maybe a wife beater, rapist or killer, so I mean really if he is supposed to be a decent guy, why would he abuse a woman? This makes me wonder what kind of man Payne really is even though he appears to be good to Vicky. I really like Clara and how she stuck to guns and stood up against Payne even when he was choking the shit out of her. I get why Vicky left Payne but I really think she should have told him why she was freeing him and not expecting anything, it would have been the right thing to do, except then we wouldn’t have this awesome story. Payne’s reasoning for not committing to Vicky was his fear for her safety but the thing is there was no indication that she was in any danger from her association with him or the MC so for me that didn’t wash to well as an excuse, because every indication was that there was peace and the only real danger was to Payne himself if a deal went bad and now that I am following this line of thought I am realizing that he thought he was thinking he was saving her from that? Interesting how the brain follows thought processes to a final conclusion. The bedroom scenes were there but not as page steaming as I would expect but they were enough to tease your senses a bit. Given all of that I still really like this story, I can’t help it, the authors did a great job of sucking me into the story and keeping me there and coming to the end was a real bummer.

Book's Blurb
Vicky is in love with Payne. But Payne is a complicated man, and she knows he only sees her as a warm hole to relieve himself in. The heartbreak over that is real, but she loves him too much to stop what they share.

Payne and Vicky are explosive in bed, and he doesn’t want that to stop. But he also won’t admit how he truly feels for her. Maybe he’s a bastard for keeping his mouth shut, but he doesn’t want to ruin what they have by saying anything.

Keeping her at a distance, and only having her by his side when they are between the sheets is what’s best for both of them.

When Vicky finds out she’s pregnant with Payne’s baby, she knows she can’t stay with a man that doesn’t want a commitment. Leaving is the best option for her and her unborn child.

When Payne finds out Vicky left, he realizes how badly he screwed up. Now he’ll do anything to bring Vicky back, and make her his old lady. She’s it for him, and he’ll prove that to her any way he can.

A Bride for Two Tycoons, Part 2: The Promise by Ava Mitchell & Sydney Holiday

Heat Rating

Maddie feels out of place in the Ellis brother’s world and attempts to separate herself from them.

So, I am thinking and asking myself why would two very smart talented writers decide to go and split a story into to two books when it would have been better to publish it as one complete book. This one even starts at Chapter 8, which explains the lack of a cliff hanger in the first book. It was a stretch finding things that I really liked about this book, besides the steamy hot sex scenes. I really got a kick out of the sister, Bea, she was a hoot when she was giving her brothers a hard time. I also liked that there was a bit more action than in the first book with the bad guys being mean, bitchy and downright vicious. The absolute best thing that I could find about this book was there were no typos, misspelled words or inconsistency in this book at all, and for that reason alone I am given this book an extra star in its overall rating.

Book Cover Rating
Given that this cover is the same one on the first book, making my opinion is the same, while also adding a little creativity does go along way when it comes the cover.

A Bride for Two Tycoons: Part 1 The Courtship by Ava Mitchell & Sydney Holiday

Heat Rating

Maddie is trying to save the youth center before it runs out of funds.

The problem with being behind in my writing of reviews and not behind in the reading is that when I get to the notes for a book I read and find that there are few to no notes and then I realize that I can barely remember what if anything I liked about said book. Which makes me think real hard because most of the books I have read I remember with clarity and especially my favorite parts. My favorite part of this story took place at the beginning at the fountain. Other than that, the story though fairly thorough is more of an introduction to all the players mixed in with some mostly steam worthy moments. What I think surprised me the most was the ending, because I know this is only the part one so I expected a cliff hanger but this book could be a stand-alone for the lack of a cliff hanger to hook you into a strong desire to read part 2.

I did read book 2 after finishing this book and will get that review out as soon as I can but for this book I think a three-star rating fits this book for the story line that was way less climatic than the sex scenes.

Book Cover Rating
After reading the book I looked at this cover for about five minutes and the male models do fit the story but the female model does not fit how I picture Madeline. I can’t help thinking that the model is over dressed for who Madeline is.

Book's Blurb
Determined to secure funding to save her non-profit, Madeline Spencer heads to Male Order, Texas, a town just east of Dallas known for its enormous wealth and generous philanthropists. Her first stop is Ellis Enterprises, and she hopes a corporate donation from the elite multinational company will help make her dream come true.

Unbeknownst to her, Male Order is menageamous and the powerful Ellis brothers are loaded in more ways than one. The moment Dalton and Garrett see her, there’s no denying their overwhelming urge to claim this single-minded and sensual woman who thinks a romantic entanglement can only be a liability.

During a whirlwind courtship the brothers introduce her to the lavish pleasures of a Male Order lifestyle but learn they don’t need to open their pocketbooks to open Madeline’s heart. They just have to convince her that mixing business with pleasure isn’t so bad after all.

Craving the Alpha (Part 1) by Kate Kent

I was given this book for an honest review by Manic Readers

Kristen James got a summer job as a camp councilor at Camp Rocky and when she and another councilor are asked to stay and clean up, she does. At the end of the last day, she and her fellow councilors are fed a nice dinner and some serious moonshine. The next thing she knows werewolves exist and she has to choose between two of them. When she chooses Dorian over Markus she thinks she is choosing the more loving brother and it doesn't take long to learn how wrong she is.

To be honest I never made it to the end and just could not get into. I thought the story line was lame but that Kate Kent took great care with her story because what I did read of this book had no edits that I could find. I just couldn't get into this book and I tried several times.

The cover caught my attention and I think it fits the book. I would give it a five-star rating for fitting Craving the Alpha
