Claimed (The Cull #1) by Renee George

Heat Rating

I wrote this review a while back (in 2014) but it was one of the reviews I pulled with the intent to read it again and revamp the post. The funny thing is that Renee George republished her story as an independently published book and changed the title so in running into this turn of events I am deciding to post this review as I had originally written it but with my updated format. There is a bonus—as I was looking in my e-library I found the republished version that I had received in a Holiday Giveaway a few years ago and I plan to read it as soon as I can because I am really curious to see if the author made any changes.

Review As Originally Written
I was hooked in on the first sentence. I love short stories that get in the first ten sentences. There a couple of boring spot but they didn't last long and were great breaks for doing a few chores before continuing. I think Anna should have bit Rebecca after she changed but hey I can't have everything (Sorry aggressive tendency are showing this week), although I guess Anna's way was more classy.

I look forward to reading more books by this author, and hope she expands more on the world she is creating with this series.

Untamed Desire (Desire, Oklahoma: The Founding Fathers #1) by Leah Brooke writing as Lana Dare

Heat Rating

I spent a few days trying to write this review and when I gave up for the night last night and try to get some sleep everything I wanted to say or can think of to say just starts popping into my head. I would have crawled my sorry butt back out of bed to write it all out but my husband is awake before the butt crack of dawn to go to work, so I had to wait to wake up and get my chores done before I could start writing this review so here we are on Untamed Desire.

I started with the Desire, Oklahoma series (written under the name Leah Brooke) and then I discover The Founding Fathers (written under name Lana Dare) and well I just had to dive in to the beginning so I could get back to the modern-day version. After all one should always start at the beginning which brings me to Untamed Desire the first in the Desire, Oklahoma: The Founding Fathers. An extremely steamy, erotic story about Maggie and her men, Eb and Jeremiah that is so well written that I found only one small error which a simple period can fix. The steamy, erotic parts are numerous however they don’t over run the storyline to the point of drowning out the plot of the story which I think centers around Maggie, Eb and Jeremiah settling into married life with the addition of Maggie settling into a new location away from the home she has always know. There are few hair-raising moments to go along with the many steamy climatic moments but I think you will enjoy the moments that are definitely foreplay the most.

What I didn’t like about Untamed Desire was the egoistical male chauvinism however accurate it was for the time period. But I think the thing I disliked the most out of the alpha males in this story was how everything about Maggie, even her past was their business while their man whoring past was none of her business, I really hate double standards, it is huge pet peeve of mine but again it is probably a most accurate mentality of the men of that time frame.

“Uh, honey, did you see Stockney, or did you just run him over?”--Jeremiah

The cover really seems to fits the story line and is eye catching.

Book's Blurb
Desire, Oklahoma: The Founding Fathers...and the courageous women who dare to love them. Here is how it all begins... When Eb and Jeremiah Tyler left their father’s ranch five years ago, Maggie Simms thought she’d never see them again. But now they’re back. But different. In the years they’ve been gone, they’ve become strangers—-hard, cold men she barely recognizes. Dangerous men. But her heart knows them. And knows she’d never survive watching them walk away again, even though they see her as nothing more than the woman they’d helped raise, one who understands ranch life. Knowing she could never let them suspect that she loves them both, she dreams of marrying one of them and living happily ever after on their father’s ranch. But she’s stunned to learn they have plans of their own-—plans to share her. To take her away from the only home she’d ever known. To a ranch in Oklahoma, called the Circle T. In a town they call Desire.

Bear Their Secret (Wylde Den #3) by Talina Perkins

Cover that came with my version My Rating of this cover

Heat Rating

Cherry is a teacher in Alaska but she is also working in a restaurant and boinking two hot bear shifters, busy girl that’s for sure. I have to say she was awesome in her bravery againsts the big bad bullies even as it probably gave her men heart failure. I really rather liked the story line but there were a few issues that got in the way of my truly enjoying the whole story.

Bear Their Secret was a bit of a contradictions for me and it’s leaving me very frustrated, because when I initially finished it I was eager to give the story a five-star rating but after a week of thinking it through. Here is my first issue, I felt like I entered the story some where in the middle. Its kind of like the author went and decided to count 100 with a short cut ‘1, 2, skip a few 100’ but in this case you don’t get the 1 and 2 which makes me wonder if reading the first two books in the series would be in my best interest, then revisit Bear Their Secret. My second issue is minor in comparison to my first issue but still needs address so maybe someone can explain it to me. The title is Bear Their Secret but what is the secret? Because it seems to me that them being bears is rather public knowledge. The last issue would be the eleven edit issues that I found that ranged from wrong gender for person in question to misspelled words. With these three edits I am struggling with how many stars I want to give the story because I really enjoyed what I was reading when I was not running into the editing bumps in the story line.

Book Cover Rating
So. this is the cover that came with my purchase of Bear Their Secret but when I went to get the link for this book and noticed there is another cover and to honest I think the one that came with my e-book fits the book more than the other cover. I mean really only person on the cover when there are three main characters in this story. I am giving the cover that came with my e-book four-stars for fitting the book and I like it better and the other cover one-star because it does not accurately depict Bear Their Secrets.

Book's Blurb
As search and rescue and partners in Wylde Excursions, breaking hearts and loving wild is what Lorne Wylde and Kohl Logan do best. Inseparable from childhood, both bear shifters share almost everything. Including their women. But the second they meet the new linguist teacher in town the heat of the mating season hits them harder than an iceberg. No one warned them Cherry’s luscious, curvy body and alluring taste would become so addictive.

Newly divorced Cherry Kennedy loved everything about the vast, wild state of Alaska. Especially the way they grew their men. Dark-haired, chiseled to perfection, and the sexiest whiskey eyes. Cherry is hesitant to risk her heart, but her body is ready for a hot one-night stand with Claw Ridge’s most eligible werebear bachelors. Basking in the magic of Alaska’s midnight sun, Cherry’s one passion-fueled night turns into two scorching months.

But the magic stops when reality crashes in and threatens to take her away from the men she’s falling for. After an accident results in a trip to the ER—and some unexpected news—she quickly discovers walking away isn’t an option. But is Cherry strong enough for the bond of two alpha werebears and can she survive risking it all for a family she never thought possible?
